Cool Tool from a Young Engineer


Yes, there are good, smart young engineers out there.

Today I came across this post from Jim Cahill at Emerson Process Management. Seems a young intern at Fisher Controls named Adam Reineke spent part of his summer on the job developing an "Energy Responsible Tool," a Web-based tool for calculating pneumatic energy used for instruments at steady state. Scientists at NASA have developed a gun built specifically to launch dead chickens at the windshields of airliners, military jets and the space shuttle, all traveling at maximum velocity. The idea is to simulate the frequent incidents of collisions with airborne fowl to test the strength of the windshields.
