Been a busy week here at the ControlGlobal popstand what with all the usual business of getting the July issue ready (some good stuff happening there), keeping up with the news, and trying not to lose focus in light of the Blackhawks' Stanley Cup win (awful lot of folks "working from home," aka, going to the downtown victory parade, today). but we do want to take time out from our euphoria and let you know about some exciting "social media" stuff going on next week out in Phoenix Arizona. 

My colleague, Jim Montague, trying to get home from New York, just sent this update on the ABB St. Louis plant. Seems the death toll is now four, including the alleged shooter.

Just a little item I should have tied into my earlier post about safety issues. Our own Jim Montague has weighed in here. He talks to an end user about the "push the red button and we fire you" syndrome and other impediments to process manufacturing safety.

In case you aren't entirely tired of our ritual chest beating, we've just found out that Jim Montague, Control's Executive Editor, has won a Regional Azbee award for his cover story, "Is PAT a Silver Bullet?"

We are very proud of the work Jim did, and we're pleased and excited that our peers honored him.

One of the neat things about my job here at the magazine sausage factory is that I get to see most of the articles for each issue before anybody else. They end up on my desk first. I get the ultimate sneak preview of every issue. So already, long before the issue is ready for printing or posting, I can tell you this: Our November issue is going to be standout.

Got an email from Walt this morning. "Got home at 7:00 last night. Still dead. Going back to bed now. See you in the morning."

So you can expect some good and tasty Walt-isms starting tomorrow. Meanwhile, the best I can do is a sneak preview of the November issue, which will be showing up online by the end of the week.
