PR Wall of Shame-- more on untargeted pitches, this time a pitch from God (sort of)

Ah, the Interweb! How wonderful, how easy, how lazy it makes PR folks.

Here's the latest untargeted pitch I received. Boy, can you say really untargeted?

NEWS RELEASE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
APOSTLE MINISTRY INC
Contact: Rev. Edward G. Palmer

Solid Rock Church Pastor Steals Son's Wife
Apostle Ministry Establishes Legal Fund To Help Son

...this has to do with process, batch and hybrid automation and control systems how?

 But here's the kicker!

Here's the disclaimer at the bottom of the message:

ICNewswire sent you this email because you are on our list of media contacts requesting News Releases to keep you informed . If you have received this email in error, please accept our apologies.

There's no targeting here, and no reason to. After all, buying a copy of Bacon's (excuse me, now it is Cision, whatever that means) is cheap, you can get it digitally, and you load the emails in and let fly.

And so it comes to me. With a comment, "Well, there's always the delete key."

Grrrrr.

Targeted pitches

Walt, That's about as targeted as my Postini spam filter and all of it's wonderful offers for medications, brides, get rich quick schemes, etc. It's always a challenge to try to pick out a real email from someone genuinely trying to contact me through the Emerson Process Experts blog.

Ain't all this communications stuff grand? ;-)
