Many of you have probably seen the "code salad" that afflicts this website from time to time, the latest being last week and this weekend through yesterday.

On behalf of Putman Media, I would like to apologise for the unfortunate bug in our software. We are tracing it and working on fixing it, and we are also working on moving from one Content Management System to another, with far better blogging software in the new CMS.

For years, I have been predicting the advent of what Dave Kaufmann (formerly of Honeywell Process Solutions) called lick-and-stick sensors. I said back in 2005 and 2006 that it would be less than 10 years before "motes" as they were called by their inventor, Dr. Kris Pister, of UC Berkeley and Dust Networks fame, would be commonplace.

So I am gratified to know that I was right.

I was in the suburbs between Baltimore and Washington DC this weekend for a science fiction convention. I was a guest in the science track, as editor of Control and ControlGlobal.com.
